U.S. Army Article on Joshua Alo
How Alo became a recorded musician, with fans literally throughout the world, is a story of perseverance and dedication. "Music is a part of growing up Hawaiian," he explained. "I'm proud of my service, past and present, to military communities, and that's a big part of what I sing about." Alo wants to be heard globally, not as a high-priced performer, but as a performer whose message people need to hear. For the moment, that means continuing to work hard at his day job as Brussels postmaster, and continue, off-duty, to make a name for himself in local music circles.

Maui Time Cover Story
Joshua Alo has had a guitar strapped to his back for a very long time. It all began with disobedient boy and a forbidden guitar, tucked quietly in a closet in his father's Aiea home in central Oahu. Alo couldn't resist the urge to pluck the strings when his father was away from the house. But his defiant behavior was rewarded one day when he was caught, red-handed, strumming one of his father's favorite songs. Recognizing his son's talent and ambition, and perhaps the futility of trying to keep the guitar out of his hands, Alo's father relented and gave him the six string...

Honolulu Star Bulletin
"Singer-songwriter Joshua Alo makes an impressive debut and speaks eloquently of his faith with this album of religious reggae. The title song addresses the importance of having "the courage to answer your calling ... and follow your dreams." It's a thought well worth considering in hectic times like these, and the larger messages Alo is sharing are appropriate for all times and seasons"...

Groundation's Diesel Diaries
"Those of you who have read these diaries for a while might remember Joshua Alo, the American serviceman who's been bringing reggae music to the soldiers he's been stationed with in the Middle East. It was finally my great pleasure to meet him and talk with him face to face. He had just returned to the islands after seven years as a soldier, and he looked like he was about to simultaneously burst into tears and start flying around the room, such were the emotions that swept through him during our conversation. We spent an evening telling stories and listening to Humble Soul, who has become one of my favorite roots reggae bands outside of Jamaica. Joshua is now living with his new wife in Belgium, releasing his second CD and spreading words of hope. As I said, Hawaii has a surplus of major chords and I hope people like Joshua can bring some sunshine to these shadowy, unsure times."
